JAHARP2021-07 - Mini Handheld Circular Saws and Transportable Benches

07 Saws final

SCOPE

The objective of this project is to ensure that non-compliant circular saws are removed from the Single Market by supporting EU MSAs in their market surveillance activities with respect to EU harmonised legislation in the long-term. Moreover, it aims to verify the compliance of the tested products with the applicable standards and requirements, and ensure enforcement of the applicable Union legislation regardless of whether products are placed on the market via offline, online or other means of distance sales and regardless of whether they are manufactured in the Union or not – that is, bringing products into conformity or removing them from the market.

OBJECTIVE

The main objectives of this project are summarised as follows:

  • Provide information on the state of compliance and safety in the market for circular saws;
  • Identify and deal with non-compliant products, ensuring that unsafe products are brought into conformity or are withdrawn from the market;
  • Identification and sharing of good practices;
  • Reduce unfair competition resulting from the presence of non-compliant products on the market;
  • Raising awareness among economic operators and other concerned stakeholders about the problems identified;
  • Increase the profile of market surveillance of circular saws;
  • Create multiplier effects through the dissemination of the project outcomes;
  • Present pragmatic policy and non-policy recommendations.

PARTICIPANTS

11 Market Surveillance Authorities from the following 10 countries: Croatia, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland (outside the framework of the Grant Agreement).

JAHARP2021-04 - Scissor Platform Lifts

04 Lifts final

SCOPE

The objective of this project is to keep non-compliant scissor lifts products from the Single Market by supporting EU MSAs in their market surveillance activities with respect to EU harmonised legislation in the long-term. Moreover, it aims to verify the compliance of the products concerned with the applicable legal requirements and standards and ensure enforcement of Union legislation, whether the products are manufactured in the EU or imported from third countries into the EU market.

OBJECTIVE

The main objectives of the work package are summarised as follows:

  • Provide information on the state of compliance and safety in the market for scissor lifts;
  • Identify and deal with non-compliant products, ensuring that unsafe products are brought into conformity or are withdrawn from the market;
  • Identification and sharing of good practices
  • Reduce unfair competition resulting from the presence of non-compliant products on the market;
  • Raise awareness among manufacturers, importers, distributors and other concerned stakeholders about the problems identified on the market, with a view to ensuring a durable improvement of the level of compliance and safety of the product;
  • Increase the profile of market surveillance of scissor lifts.

PARTICIPANTS

9 Market Surveillance Authorities from the following 7 countries: Belgium, Czech Republic, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain.

 

JA2016: Impact drills

Work on Power Tools has begun within the framework of the Joint Action 2014 (JA2014).  Following a priority-setting exercise, the Member States decided to enforce the safety of the impact drills within the framework of the Joitn Action 2016 (JA2016).Woker  Impact drill

The work to be undertaken will include surveillance activities, product testing, risk assessment of the products tested and eventual action needed to be taken. Appropriate test methods for the other products will be identified as needed depending on the products sampled. The participants will carry out coordinated market surveillance in their national markets. The proposal comprises 6 project meetings (including a 2-day meeting with the participation of stakeholders), testing of an estimated 105 products with the results being presented at the final conference of the Joint Action.

This work will of course be closely coordinated with the groups working on standards concerning Power tools. The Joint Action will support the work with the definition and checking of the test methods, the reproducibility of the tests, etc.

The participants

The 7 Member States involved in this product activity are: Bulgaria, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Croatia, Latvia, and Malta. PROSAFE is the leader of the this working group.

JAHARP2022-03 - Work Package 3 - Chainsaws

SCOPE

The objective of this project is to ensure that non-compliant chainsaws are removed from the Single Market by supporting EU MSAs in their market surveillance activities with respect to EU harmonised legislation in the long-term. Moreover, it aims to verify the compliance of the tested products with the applicable standards and requirements, and ensure enforcement of the applicable Union legislation regardless of whether products are placed on the market via offline, online or other means of distance sales and regardless of whether they are manufactured in the Union or not – that is, bringing products into conformity or removing them from the market. 

OBJECTIVE

The main objectives of this project work package are summarised as follows:

  • Assessment and use of screening methods to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of market surveillance actions;
  • Checking product compliance based on document inspection;
  • Checking product compliance based on product testing;
  • Check of compliance for online labelling;
  • Feedback and recommendations from experiences with document inspection and product testing to support the further development of standards and legislation. Identification of circumvention issues;
  • Impact assessment for the action.
