It is with great sorrow that the PROSAFE Office and Board inform you of the sudden passing away of Michael Cassar, Director of Market Surveillance at the Maltese Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority and Chairman of the Board of PROSAFE.
Michael suffered a heart attack in his home in Malta in the early morning of 1 March 2019, and despite all medical help, could not be saved. His passing is a true loss for all of us and for the EU market surveillance.
Michael Cassar was a cherished friend and an incredible professional who was very dedicated to PROSAFE and never spared any effort to foster more active cooperation between market surveillance authorities in Europe and put consumer protection in the spotlight.
Michael was a true champion of market surveillance, his warm personality and profuse optimism impressed us all.
PROSAFE was his most dear project and for the past years he devoted his energy to furthering our goals. Let his work be an inspiration for all of us and his positive energy guide us further. Our work will continue as Michael would have wanted to.
